The Alphawave group was founded in 1994 by CEO Frans Meyer and Gronum Smith, initially to provide electromagnetic consulting services to the fledgling mobile telecoms industry. Today the group houses 16 different companies, mostly in the electronics, data and software markets, and boasts of over 150 specialized engineers. Notable successes include Fieldsense radio frequency monitors, used by Vodacom and MTN, the market leading Skynamo field sales management app, and Inrange, which provides radar tracking of golf balls to make practice fun. Alphawave recently raised a R 100 million investment from Kagiso Capital to fund future growth.
